Film based on the John Carlin book "The Human Factor" (Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed the World) and set after Nelson Mandela's release from prison and became president of South Africa. Soon after, in 1995 the country held the world championship of rugby, after years of being excluded from competition because of apartheid. Event Mandela (Morgan Freeman) promoted and used, with the help of the rugby star Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon), as a way to end the hatred and distrust for decades between white and black population of the country
